Eliot Fintushel, the Master of Mime and Mask, will visit the Oakley Library on Wednesday, April 1 at 4 p.m. The free program, open to children of all ages, is funded by First 5 Contra Costa, which has provided the library with a grant to present multicultural programs to young children.

explores the fabulously varied shapes and moods of which we humans are capable. Through a series of mutable layered masks, Fintushel explores body language, the mysterious relation between shapes and moods, and how humans understand those signals at a glance. His demonstration of illusionary mime techniques, audience exercises (both raucous and quiet) and theatrical clowning brings home the lesson of communication through posture and gesture.

The Oakley Library is located in Freedom High School at 1050 Neroly Road. The library is open Tuesday and Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Thursday from 2 to 9 p.m.; Friday from 2 to 6 p.m.; and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; closed on Sundays and Mondays.
