Cowboys Rookies 13, Rookies Blue 7

The Patriots Rookies Blue team suffered its first loss of the season at the hands of the defending division champion Manteca Cowboys. Nick Marcelli, Zach Kessler and Zach Sorensen all made several tackles behind the line of scrimmage to lead a strong defensive effort. The Gaines brothers, Troy and Shane, also displayed their defensive skills, making several key tackles. Nick Zalec proved a heavy load for the Manteca defense, registering a touchdown reception and a 40-yard kickoff return.

JV DIVISION

JV Blue 22, Cowboys JV 14

Andrew Topete scored twice and Rene Clark found the paint once, as the JV Blue squad toppled the Cowboys. Quarterback Bryan Wargo had a great game, as did running back Jerry Guzman, who ran the ball well to help put the team in scoring position. Jacob Thompson made a tackle for a loss of yards, stopping a Cowboy drive, and Brandon Olson batted away a Cowboy pass on fourth down, giving the Patriots great field position.

Jaime Luna made a speedy recovery from a broken collarbone suffered in the first game of the season and played big in his first game back. The defense was smothering, limiting the Galt Colts to only four first downs in the game. The offense came through with four scores en route to the team's fourth win of the season. The offense used two quarterbacks, seven running backs and rotated a number of players on the offensive line, including Cody Oleski, who is showing great improvement.
