Route 4/Sand Creek interchange to break ground

The Contra Costa Transportation Authority (CCTA) and Caltrans hold a groundbreaking ceremony for the State Route 4/Sand Creek Road Interchange Project Friday, June 22 at 10 a.m. at The Streets of Brentwood lifestyle center on Sand Creek Road.

The project involves the completion of a four-lane roadway from south of Laurel Road in Oakley to Sand Creek Road in Brentwood, and the construction of an interchange at Sand Creek Road. SR4 will cross over Sand Creek Road by means of a single bridge and include a loop for westbound Sand Creek Road to eastbound SR4. The prime contractor is Bay Cities/Myers JV.

In attendance at the groundbreaking will be Master of Ceremonies and CCTA Executive Director Randell Iwasaki, Caltrans District 4 Director Bijan Sartipi, 11th District U.S. Congressman Jerry McNerney, 15th District California Assemblymember Joan Buchanan, Contra Costa County District V Supervisor Federal Glover, Brentwood Mayor Bob Taylor, CCTA Chair Don Tatzin, and TRANSPLAN Chair Jim Frazier.
