Ninth annual Brentwood Barbecue King Cook-off
You can always figure that where there’s smoke, there’s fire, but in the case of Harvest Park Bowl on Super Bowl Sunday, there was also a whole lot of good eatin’. The event was the ninth annual Brentwood Barbecue King Cook-off, which this year attracted 13 chefs and raised more than $4,000 for the Brentwood Police Activities League and the East Contra Costa Historical Society.

A train stopped too close to the crossing at Cypress Road in Oakley, resulting in the crossing arms remaining down for 15 minutes until the train moved.
