Someone is lying

Editor:

There was an interesting article in a newspaper recently about BART wanting to put a tax on us for new cars. Why weren’t they factored into capital improvements?

Every meeting I have attended, Joel Keller has said the 40-plus years the people of Antioch and East County have paid into BART has gone into running the system, not building the system out to us. Now they say they need new cars so they want to tax us again. Who is lying to us?

It is more likely all the money we have paid into BART has gone for ridiculous wages, pensions and board member perks. I say: no more money until they stop lying to us and open up their books and show us where our money has gone.

Mr. Fernandez: I think you are,"right on track," (I couldn't help my self!) with regard to the "outhouse" we call the BART checkbook. I never thought that SFO would be usable in my lifetime, and they fooled me. ButI seriously, do not think that the people here in California who are in charge of the BART system and the parallel transportation-Muni light rail, all of the other forms of transportation in the region have even the slightest idea what they are doing or for whom. The routes and lines in use right now do not even serve the people who have been paying since the 1960's, and have never had reasonable access tot he system. SO the people who do not really NEED reliable public transit pay for it but have limited access. NOT right, BART is a messed up agency. And I am sure their employees ride for free and I bet that their relatives do as well. ALL of them. It is hopeless.
