Childhaven Preschool in Brentwood hosted its 12th annual Muscular Dystrophy Association Hop-a-Thon last week, raising $490.20 for neuromuscular research.

The Hop-a-Thon was part of MDA’s national disability awareness initiative, organized by childcare centers and schools across the nation. Children collected pledges based on the number of hops they could do in two minutes. Proceeds fund neuromuscular research, provide support for adults and children with neuromuscular disease and give MDA’s young clients the opportunity to attend MDA Summer Camp at Camp Westminster Woods in Occidental, Calif.

The Hop-a-Thon provides children the opportunity to hop to help children who cannot. The Hop-a-Thon curriculum, provided free of charge by MDA, included lesson plans focused on educating children about those living with disabilities.
