Tyne Bailey passed away peacefully on April 19 in Placerville, Calif. following a brief illness. She was 96.

Tyne was born March 6, 1916 in Oskosh, Neb. to John and Anna Nordel of Chappel, Neb., where she attended high school. She attended college in San Jose.

After moving with her family several times between Nebraska and California, Tyne married Chester Bailey, who preceded her in death after 50 years of marriage. She and Chet spent many years farming in the Brentwood area and were the first to have a swimming pool built in Brentwood.

Tyne is survived by her son, Robert Bailey of Brentwood; daughter, Betty Ann Prenk of Placerville; two grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Following the death of her husband, Tyne moved in 1989 to Placerville, where she served as a member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW and the American Legion, and was active in the Placerville Senior Center.

It was Tyne’s wish that there should be no service and that all remember her as she was.

The family requests that donations be sent to Snowline Hospice, 6520 Pleasant Valley Road, Diamond Springs, CA 95619.
