The Antioch Rotary Club recently continued its tradition of distributing new dictionaries to every third grader in Antioch. This year, Rotary teams handed out over 500 books.

"Reaching out and educating the children in our community is an important part of our club's mission," said Antioch Rotary President Tom McLaughlin. "This program also fits with the Antioch School District's Character Counts program by showing the students people practicing citizenship and community support."

The kids were excited to receive the beautifully illustrated books. Several were amazed that they got to keep "such an expensive and special" book. Every Rotarian involved in the giveaway was honored to see the excitement in the children's faces as they leafed through their books.

The Antioch Rotary meets every Thursday at noon at Lone Tree Golf and Event Center. Those interested in becoming a Rotarian or finding out more may contact the group at 706-4220 or come to a meeting.
