Local residents enjoyed the Oakley Home and Garden Fair, games, raffles, Raley's Food Fair and the Oakley-Delta Lion's Club barbecue.
"We are trying to create a sense of community," said Barbara Mason, staff liaison on the Downtown Revitalization Task Force. "The idea is to bring in music and fun for the community. It is a great way to meet people and it is a great place for kids."
At the Friends of the Oakley Library booth, children happily received colorful jester hats with bells, courtesy of Linda Pennock and Jenny Wu.
"This is great. The weather is good and I couldn't ask for a better night," said Wu. "We are here to provide information and have fun."
"This event gives nonprofits a place to introduce themselves to the community," said Mason. "We also want to combine with the Farmers' Market."
After touring, guests relaxed in lawn chairs in front of a large stage to listen to live music performed by Leroy Bell. His band, Blues Phenomenon, played fresh beats that created a cool mood as the sun set.
