Jim D. Odom

Sept. 27, 1943-June 21, 2012

A loving husband, a devoted father, a fun-loving PaPa, a faithful friend, a family man who served God, his family and his community with all his heart went home to meet his heavenly father on June 21.

His sudden death at the age of 68 has been a tragedy for all the ones who loved him so dearly. Jim passed away while doing what he loved and left behind a legacy of love that no one will ever forget. Jim is survived by his wife, Janet Odom, and preceded in death by his previous wife, Connie Odom, and his parents, Jim and Lucille Odom.

He is also survived by his children and their spouses, Kent and Nina Odom, Jimmy and Lisa Odom, Heath and Katrina Culbreath, Joe and Carrie Higby, Jeremiah Johnson, Eric and Summer Johnson, and Adam and Dawn Johnson; his sisters and their spouses, Marylee and Don Barthol, Lula and Jerry McCurtain, and Margaret Herring and Bettie Sims; his 15 beautiful grandchildren, Kaila and Tony Stock, Clint Odom, Kody Odom, Kierra Odom, Taylor Culbreath, Brooke Culbreath, Jessica Odom, Julia Odom, Ashley Hinchcliff, Brianna Hinchcliff, Andrew and Alison Higby, Haily, Faith, and Matthew Johnson; and his great grandson, Preston Stock.

A memorial service celebrating his life was held June 26 at Calvary Temple Church in Bay Point.

Jim was a man of service, and his current project, dear to his heart, was building a new church in Rodeo, Calif. Donations may be made to New Hope Community Church, P.O. Box 623, Rodeo, CA 94572.
