Discovery Bay resident Paul Douglas Chasteen, 57, passed away on March 16. He was a man of personal integrity, honesty and faith in others. He thrived in making new friends, especially when traveling or in seemingly awkward situations.

For years, Paul was involved internationally in the music industry as a partner in Eye and I Productions; proud of working with performers including Keith Emerson, Marc Bonilla, Kevin Gilbert and many others. Later in life, he was known for being meticulous and forthright while working as a home appraiser and general contractor.

Paul is survived by his wife, Rosanne Chasteen, and daughter, Tiffany Luckhardt, both of Discovery Bay; brother, Marshall Chasteen; aunts, Linda Taylor of Louisville, Ky. and Wilma Johnson of Frankfurt, Ky.; and several close cousins throughout the Kentucky area.

Paul had a gift for making close friends become part of his extended family through marriage, music and community. In his final months fighting liver disease, he gave testimony freely and offered words of encouragement to other patients and their families. He chronicled his journey at www.ourliverspots.com in order to share his story so others might find comfort and answers.

A memorial service was held on Saturday, March 21 at the Delta Community Presbyterian Church in Discovery Bay. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts should be directed to the American Liver Foundation or the American Cancer Society.
