Bethel Island resident Richard W. Schoppmeyer passed away in his home on Sunday, Oct. 3 at the age of 60. He is survived by his siblings, Michael Schoppmeyer and Victor Labarge; children, Bridgette Ornelas, Rebecca Schoppmeyer, Richard H. Schoppmeyer; and stepdaughter, Heather Dooley. He also went above and beyond in being a foster father to Tina Phillips.

Richard was born Jan. 8, 1950 in Hot Springs, Ark. His parents, who preceded him in death, were Leo Schoppmeyer and Mary Elizabeth Mcinary. Richard loved to say, “May the sun always shine in your face and the wind be at your back.”

Services will be held Saturday Oct. 23 at 1 p.m. in St. Alban’s Episcopal Church, 508 Second St. in Brentwood. A celebration of his life will follow; details will be given at the service.
